If you are interested in experiencing a fine example of rural Alaska and true Alaskan hospitality, definitely visit Seldovia and stay at the Boardwalk Hotel. My room was exceptionally clean, cozy and comfortable with a great view of the Harbor. Lunch was delicious, and I highly recommend the seafood chowder (secret family recipe). “Our Seldovia experience was Alaska perfection. The Boardwalk Hotel is a lovely little place with staff who know you’re not a local, but treat you as if you were. Very comfortable, clean accommodations. The restaurant is superb home cooking; be sure to be there on Friday or Saturday night for prime rib dinner on the patio. Best tip I can give someone going to Seldovia to stay a bit is to take off your watch and sink into the relaxed, slowed-down pace of life.
